Alternative Methods of Instruction Packet
Dear Families,
For the 2025-2026 school year, the Marshfield R-1 School District has elected to have an Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) plan on file with the state of Missouri. Having this plan on file means the district is able to pivot to the use of AMI days during the event of an emergency school closure (weather, facility issue, etc.). It also means the district is required to provide materials to students and families for learning in the event of closure.
Your child is receiving this packet for 5 days of academic activities in the event of emergency closure. The materials in the packet represent priority academic material for your child’s classes and/or grade level. Days 1 through 5 of materials would be completed during each of the corresponding days of closure. Materials would be submitted upon return to school, with additional days given for completion if a student could not complete work during closure. In the event of closure, specific guidance will be provided for completing and turning in materials.
All materials are also available on the district’s website or Canvas. You can find them at the following locations.
Please note, it is not the district’s intent to use AMI for intermittent snow days. The intent is to be prepared in the event of an extended weather-related closure or other extenuating circumstance causing unexpected and/or extended closure.
Please keep this packet of materials in a safe place at home in the event our AMI plan is needed. If you were to lose your packet, you may print a new one online as described above or ask your classroom teacher(s) for another copy.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this information, please do not hesitate to reach out to your building principal. Thank you for helping us be prepared for any circumstances.
Sincerely,
Dr. Garrett Lowder
Assistant Superintendent of Academic Services
Marshfield R-1 School District
