ECSE
Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE)
ECSE serves children ages 3-5 by addressing their developmental needs in social, emotional, physical, and communication skills. Certified staff work with families and community resources to create individualized educational plans and provide tailored services at no cost.
We take pride in integrating ECSE students with their typically developing peers, whether in community preschools or specialized settings. Our programs promote success through parent involvement, professional development, and a collaborative team approach, ensuring all caregivers are supported as teachers.
The Marshfield R-I Special Education Department partners with families throughout the special education process, which can be complex due to legal and procedural requirements. This site offers resources to help families navigate their journey, including The Parents' Guide to Special Education, a comprehensive handbook from DESE that explains special education rules, the referral, evaluation, and IEP processes.
